It could only happen with a Dick and a Bush in the White House

At least that unsatisfying DeLay is over, but no wonder we're still left with a Boehner.

The revelation that the House Republicans are going against all known science by following DeLay with a Boehner -- it seems Bob Dole and his favorite pill haven't left the GOP as much as we thought -- has me thinking about a logical succession once Boehner's political capital becomes flaccid as well. I think the answer is clear: where one Boehner is good, (Californian Republican Chris) Cox is better. Hell, if the Democrats could erect a suitable leadership position, Norm Dicks of Washington would be an improvement over the GOP's wimpy Boehner. (Somewhere, Don Sherwood, R-Penn., is shaking his (swollen?) head in disbelief that he did not get the nod.) Of course, at the end of the day, it's not a surprise to anyone that the Republicans can be a little Lincoln Chafee (R-R.I.) during their rough insertion of right-wing policy and their hard-to-swallow logic. The solution? Let's finally put the Democrats back on top and end all the nonsense with a soothing Elijah Cummings (D-Md).
